Hi Stephen

Obviously not the "joys of parenthood", is this your first child? Believe me a year or two from now you will not even remember this. There are many factors that could be causing this, and trying to solve it can be quite a task.

If you are exhausted, then have a family member or friend help out. You may even consider to take a day or two off, just to re-cooperate. Lack of sleep may brake down hope and give you less strength to cope.

Your baby might be teething or may have cramps. So you will need to try and establish what the cause is. Try different things, maybe he needs more comfort, so you could try making yourself a bed in front of the TV and have him sleep next to you for a couple of hours (that way you will get some rest and he would be close and feel protected);

Things to ask yourself:

- Is mom breastfeeding? - Maybe he is not getting enough milk and a top-up before he goes to bed is needed

- Which milk formula are you using?- Maybe you are giving him a supplement that is not efficient, and maybe the quantity is not enough

- Are you feeding him enough?- Is he getting enough or maybe too much?

- Is your child in his own room?- You may want to move him back into your own room or even sleep in his room until he is fast asleep.

- Is the room too cold or too warm? - Make sure your baby is comfortable and that the temperature is perfect.

- Bath time - if he doesn't sleep well after a bath, then don't bath him at night, but rather in the afternoon or morning (My first child was was wide awake after a bath and my second child was exactly the opposite - this may not even be your issue, but something to consider)

These are just some things to check, what worked for me as a parent may not even work for other parents out there. Give it a try...

You should "invest" in baby Panado syrup and teething powder, whenever they get a cold, fever or have teething problems, this should help you through the night, and then you could get them to a doctor in the morning.

Hope this helps

thanks
